Today Is ‘Thank Your Mentor Day,’ Indian Head! Here Are Some Ways to Get Involved!
January 21, 2016
"Thank you for being a listener, a guide, a friend, and most importantly, for being there—in real life." Today, Thursday, Jan. 21, American mentees are encouraged to convey this message of gratitude to their mentor as part of Thank Your Mentor Day, one day set aside every year to recognize the sacrifices and efforts made by mentors all across the country.
Never heard of Thank Your Mentor Day, Indian Head? The day is part of National Mentoring Month, which was founded in 2002 and occurs annually in January. The month was created by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership.
So whether you had a mentor growing up, or you'd just like to show appreciation for someone who's made a positive effect or impact on your life, today's the day to do so! The Thank Your Mentor Day website suggests ways to express your gratitude, such as contacting your mentor directly, donating to a local mentoring program, or perhaps better still, becoming a mentor yourself.
