Experience the thrill (and flavor!) of competition during the Safeway Barbecue Battle, returning for its 23rd year to Pennsylvania Avenue! During this outdoor festival, some of the country's top pitmasters will vie for more than $40K in cash prizes and the title of National Pork Barbecue Champion.

Meanwhile, event-goers can sip and sample their way through the event's seemingly never-ending supply of complimentary barbecue fare (ribs, hot dogs, pulled pork), then pause to watch musicians perform on one of three stages. Cooking demonstrations, celebrity chef appearances, shopping, and kid-friendy games are also on the docket.

The Safeway Barbecue Battle takes place 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 27 and 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 28. If purchased at the gate, tickets are $15 for one-day admission and $30 for two-day admission. However, tickets purchased online are discounted by 20–30 percent. Kids 12 and under are admitted free!
